Babymoon

My husband and I went on a babymoon (our last trip without kids) to Kauai. I was five months pregnant and feeling overall great! Other than not being able to have yummy sushi (with raw fish) and alcohol, the trip was a ten. Our friends and family share with us that traveling would never be the same again after having kids. So soon after we found out we were prego we started looking at our calendar. Even if a weekend trip was all we could do we were all about it!

In Kauai, along with eating yummy food, we went on a plane to see the island and coast from a bird's eye view. We also went hiking, snorkeling, shopped, laid out by the pool, kayaked, and of course went to a luau. Everything that is a must on vacay we did or at least attempted.

To maximize our meal budget we stocked up on items which we could have for breakfast and lunch at the Costco there on the island. We got croissants, cold cuts, a cheese platter, peaches, a sunchips variety pack, and juice. Although we brought an insulated lunch sack we didn't bring tupperware to keep the sandwiches from falling apart. So we used the packaging of the cold cuts which was pretty much a standard reusable tupperware container.

This allowed us to save money on breakfast and lunch so we could splurged on where we went to dinner.

Here are some pictures from our trip...enjoy!

No Room for Error

It all started on a Friday at Bruegger's, during lunch  with a friend when I could not contain myself any longer. "I think I might be pregnant," I told her. The monthly visit from my Bloody Aunt had been delayed for 4 days and unless I was sick, her visits were always fairly regular. "Great!" my friend exclaimed, "I have an extra pregnancy test you can have." Having heard that these test were fairly expensive I was very grateful. Once I received the test stick from her later that day, the magnitude of what I would be confirming and the consequences settled in.

Although I wanted to take the test that evening my husband, Brandon, suggested that we wait until the next morning. The excitement of confirming my pregnancy meant I was unable to sleep-in as I usually do on the weekend. As soon as I woke, around 6AM, I went straight to the bathroom and took the prego test.  A short wait later, we went over to where I had left the test stick and read the results: two lines (one dark in shade and the other faint).

"What does that mean?" said Brandon. Getting out the instructions from the box we read, "| | means pregnant &  |  means not pregnant" but since there was no note regarding one dark line and one faint line Brandon was unconvinced. So before brushing our teeth or getting breakfast, we put on a sweatshirt over our PJ's and slid on some flip flops to walk over to CVS to get another prego test. This test required 10 seconds.  The codes for this test were + means pregnant & - means not pregnant. Our results were neither, reading " | ".

That evening we went to dinner with Brandon's family to celebrate his recent promotion over great Greek and Italian food, at Yanni's Bistro. As we arrive Brandon remembered that the last time we had eaten there was for our Rehearsal Dinner. "Now here we were pregnant!" I said. "We don't know that for sure," remind Brandon. Throughout the evening all I could think about was if we were pregnant what perfect timing, restaurant and company we were in. But it really bothered me that we still were not completely convinced.

On our drive home from dinner, we stopped by CVS once again and purchased a 3 pack of prego tests with digital screens which would read PREGNANT or NOT PREGNANT so that there would be no room for error with dark and faint lines. With a full bladder ready I conducted the tests and waited for the result to appear on the screen.

Both read PREGNANT!
